


EDITORIAL BOARD PROFILE![]() Claude Cookman enjoyed a professional career of more than 18 years, primarily as a photography editor at the Associated Press in New York, The Louisville Times - before it was bought by the Gannett chain - and The Miami Herald. His academic credentials include an MS from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, an MFA in art history and a Ph.D. in the history of photography, both from Princeton University. In the fall of 1990, he joined the faculty at the Indiana University School of Journalism, where he teaches the history of photography, visual communications, informational graphics, computer graphic design and pedagogy. His teaching at IU has been recognized with six awards. Cookman's research focuses on French magazine photojournalists; he has published on Henri Cartier-Bresson, Marc Riboud, Werner Bischof, Janine Niepce and Gilles Caron. He is also the author of a history of the founding and early years of the National Press Photographers Association. |
