EDITORIAL BOARD PROFILE
A picture of David Perlmutter
David D. Permutter is a professor and associate dean for graduate studies and research in the William Allen White School of Journalism & Mass Communications at the University of Kansas. A documentary photographer and former editor of a political communication book series, he is the author of 3 books and the editor of a fourth on war, politics, visual images, new media, and public opinion: Photojournalism and Foreign Policy: Framing Icons of Outrage in International Crises (Greenwood, 1998); Visions of War: Picturing Warfare from the Stone Age to the Cyberage (St. Martin's, 1999); (ed.) Guide to Political Communication (LSU Press, 1999); Policing the Media: Street Cops and Public Perceptions of Law Enforcement (Sage, 2000). He also is a former board member of the American Association of Political Consultants. He writes regularly for the Chronicle of Higher Education and has published over 130 opinion essays for U.S. and international newspapers. He is registered in the Knight-Ridder Progressive Media Project. In addition, he is frequently interviewed by wire services, newspapers, magazines, and television media such as the New York Times, National Public Radio, CNN, Reuters, UPI, the AP, and ABC News as well as featured in a number of documentaries.
